Maya-Aska Arai: The Bathers Photography Series

- In this photographic series Maya photographed different women in the shower looking through the shower screen. The series explores the private places where women encounter and scrutinise their own bodies while also referencing numerous examples in cinema and art where the male gaze has fetishized women bathing.
- As much as I find the meaning behind the image to be extremely powerful, the actual image is very similar to my outcomes from last week but I focused more on the water as a metaphor for bodies rather than a raw image telling a story.

- The colour scheme is very effective as its very "real" colours.

- This relates to the Body Politics Project because of the way the artist presents the women and implies their thoughts and feelings towards their body without saying anything.
