END OF PART 2 REFLECTION

Part 2 of my foundation course has been extremely enjoyable and I've loved each project. I've found that my development and improvement over the course of the last few months has been a lot in relation to photography and moving image as well as my personal development and how I would like to continue my time as a creative. One significant factor I've learnt is that I am better at photography than moving image: the complete opposite to what I would have said at the beginning of this course. I think having time to dedicate to improvement in my photography has been a key part in my practice. I think I'd lost my love for photography during my time in A Levels, as we were only taught what would pass our exams and not given enough freedom to improve artistically other than the observational drawing and analysis of other artists.

On a personal level, I've realised that I really enjoy working as a team. As a naturally shy person, I used to find working with my peers out of my comfort zone however I really enjoy it now especially with the people that I am comfortable with. It's exciting to be surrounded by people who are passionate about photography and fashion like me, something that my time in school was lacking.

Alternatively, one aspect that I've struggled with over the course is having to pick an idea so quickly for the whole of a project. I realised part way through that if the idea on the first day of the project is strong, then the final outcome will likely also be. Also I've found if I over think a project then it doesn't come out as planned and I am usually disappointed. In future, I need to remember that the artistic vision in my head will not always come out exactly as to plan and that I should take photos in the moment and then work what I have from there in a beneficial way.

Overall, in part 3 I would like to really focus my time on photography and try and find out what my niche and strengths are in the skill. I am excited to be starting my own projects however it does seem quite daunting at the moment as well as the amount of independent time that we will have to work in.
